YOUR FOOD SHOULD BE YOUR DRUG
It was Hippocrates, the acclaimed father of medicine who said that your food should act as your drugs. The implication of this statement is that a good diet will prevent and combat majority of the diseases humans are suffering today. But today with the emergence of fast and junk foods, we no longer take nutritious food. The resultant effects are the plenty of diseases that roam planet earth today. We are living in an era of fast food, fast cars, fast death and the resultant short life span.
Even the world health organization (W.H.O) has acknowledged the fact the best vaccine against common infectious disease is adequate and balance diet which should commence in infancy. A good diet has preventive effect on many of the diseases roaming the planet today. So what is the composition of a good diet.
A good diet should include plenty of tree ripen fruits and vegetables like pumpkin, cabbage, mango, avocado pear, orange, water melon etc. Whole grains like wheat, millet, unpolished and brown rice, guinea corn and legumes like green beans, soya beans, beans also contribute to the composition of a good and healthy diet. Sea foods, white meat, poultry products raised organically should also be included. Regular taking of coconut oil and carrot juice mixed with olive oil help to boost immunity against diseases. Enough water should be taken at least 8 cups a day, this is very good for your health.
Refined or process food that are contaminated with artificial and man-made flavors and colorants should be avoided. Food with high salt content, red meat, white rice, white potato, white bread, white sugar and alcohol should be avoided. Also high fat milk, soda lime and juice drinks mixed preservatives should also be avoided. These food are not good for your health. They contribute to majority of the disease flying around.
Like they say, prevention is better, cost effective and painless than cure. So if you are not suffering from any ailments, I will recommend that you change your diet from the fast and refined foods to the natural foods alighted above. Taking natural food helps to boost your immunity against diseases and prevent you from becoming one of the victims of the numerous diseases flying around.
