DANGERS OF BODY PIERCING
It is a beautiful piercing you have on your mouth, genitals, nose, ear and other parts of the body. Though a wonderful form of self expression, it can be dangerous. If you are bent on piercing your body, then prepare yourself to deal with the possibility of allergic reaction to the products used during and after the procedure to clean your body piercing.
Be aware of the risk of bacteria infection when getting a body piercing. Though the risk of infection is low when your piercing is performed by a trained professional with sterilizing equipment, there is also the possibility of infection during the period after your piercing when you are left to care for it on your own at home.
Infection is a common complication of mouth and nose piercings because of the millions of bacteria that lives in those areas. The tongue piercing can damage teeth over time. The tongue, cheek and lip piercings can also cause gum problems.
Have it in mind that viral infection- HIV, hepatitis C and hepatitis B is a possible risk of body piercing. You should generally avoid swimming or extended contact with any body of water for at least a month after you get body piercing.
Understand the risk of permanent damage to the nerves in the area of your body that is pierced. Though, it is impossible to identify in advance whether or not nerve damage in advance whether or not nerve damage may result from piercing, it is fairly common that, due to poor piercing procedures and the failure to follow proper after care guidelines, you may go numb in the area that is pierced. This occurs most often in tongues and genital piercings, though it is possible in any type of piercings. People who are prone to keloids should be careful.
