HOW TO PREVENT WRINKLES
We may not like it, but when it comes to wrinkles, we are all in the same boat because everybody gets them. However, you can delay the onset of wrinkles with a few simple steps. Or if the first signs are already there, you can act to slow their development, particularly when you know what causes them.
Wrinkles occur as the skin becomes less flexible. With age, the skin produces loss natural oil to keep it supple. This makes it thinner, drier, more delicate and less taut. The wrinkling process is genetically. Its speed and extent vary from person to person. Getting older is not the only cause of wrinkles as there are other factors that can increase its susceptibility. Chief among them is ultra-violet rays from the sun that speed up the ageing process. Pollution, extreme climate disorder, heat, dramatic weight changes, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, all take their tolls on our faces.
Pollution blocks the pores and causes the skin to dry out. Rapid weight loss and alcohol dehydrate the skin. Heavy smokers develop crow’s feet (bag under the eyes) from screwing up their eyes to avoid the cigarette smoke and as well as twitching their nose to avoid the halitosis- bad breath. Chewing gum, besides not being chic, stretches and sags skin at the cheek areas. Even facial expressions such as frowning hastens the development of wrinkles. Constant frowning causes deep furrows along the brow area. In general, any motion that stretches or pulls the skin like leaning your face into your hands for a headrest, is a no to prevent wrinkles. Facial exercises are the exceptions as they encourage the release of tension so that your face is more relaxed.
Moisturizer is one of the most important anti-wrinkle treatments. It provide a film over the skin that prevent the natural moisture from escaping. It can also protect you from pollution, the weather and if it has a sun screen, from ultra violet rays.
Apply moisturizers while your face is still damp and your neck too, this will help the cream to go further and seal in extra moisture. Use richer products as you get older. If you suffer from crow’s feet, it’s worth investing in eye cream. Lightly massage it around the outer edge of the eye where bags are likely to occur.
Keeping your skin clean is one of the best ways to avoid premature wrinkles, so try exfoliating at least once a week with a gentle facial scrub or your normal sponge. Be sure to warm the skin first as this will help the pores and loosen towel or have a bath before hand. Anti-aging creams should be treated with scepticism. After all if they really work, you wouldn’t be reading this. The fact is that we cannot make old skin any younger. For those creams to work, they have to get below your skin area that has slackened to cause wrinkles and in that case they would come as drugs and not creams.
The cheapest and easier way to disguise wrinkles is by cleverly make-up, especially foundation. Put your foundation in your palm and dilute with little water. Apply with your fingers, then apply a second coat when the first one has dried. It will look more natural this way and stay on the skin longer. You can also divert attention from areas where there are more wrinkles. For instance, if you have crow’s feet around your eyes, jazz up your lips with bright bold colors. If you have thin lines around mouth, then try a natural lip color or use your powder shadows as they don’t crease or wear off easily.
The simplest and cheapest beauty trick of all, is to keep smiling. It gives you less wrinkles than frowning and makes you a much more pleasant person.
